Subtle, forthright, and very fresh on the nose. Cuvée Rosé Laurent-Perrier suggests a basketful of small berry fruits: strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrants, blackberries, redcurrants, and morello and black cherries. The overwhelming sensation is one of freshness. Fruit dominates the palate. Cuvée Rosé Laurent-Perrier is a lively, well-rounded wine which combines structure and freshness. The forthright, slightly sharp attack is like breathing the heady aromas of a freshly-picked basket of berry fruits – a symphony of aromas with a gently-rounded, tender finish.

To be paired with country ham, grilled oregano lemon lamb chops.

The Recanati Winery was founded in 2000 by a group of wine lovers led by Lenny Recanati. Their goal was to create a new winery for the production of quality Israeli wines at reasonable consumer prices.

The Winery established its home in the Hefer Valley and is furnished with state-of the-art wine-making equipment.
The most important requirement in the production of quality wines is always the quality of the grapes. Dr. Pini Sarig, an international vine growing expert, was instrumental in assisting the winery in locating excellent vineyards as well as plots of land with vine-growing potential, where new vineyards were planted. Most of the vineyards from which the winery receives it grapes are in the Manara and Kerem Ben-Zimra regions in the Upper Galilee, a high region with an ideal climate for the cultivation of quality wine grapes. Additional growing areas are the Ella Valley and the Lower Galilee, which have a warmer climate that is conducive to producing the different grape varieties that provide additional nuances to their wines.

Most of their red wines are made from the noble Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot varieties. However, the winery is involved in cultivating and assimilating additional varieties that have great potential, such as Cabernet Franc, Shiraz and Syrah, Barbera, Zinfandel and Petite Syrah. Their white wines are produced with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, French Colombard and Emerald Riesling

Their winemaking process is leaded by their head winemaker, Gil Shatsberg, a graduate of the Viticulture and Enology Program at the Davis University of California. Shatsberg accumulated vast experience while working in California and Israel. He had become Recanati’s Head winemaker on January 2008, replacing Lewis Pasco and continuing his goal – making the best out of the fabulous Mediterranean terroir Recanati winery has in hands.
Shatsberg is known to the Israeli wine lover’s public as the winemaker and founder of “Amphorae”, one of Israel’s best boutique winery.
His deeply ingrained sense of commitment to realising the full inherent potential of the grapes is a significant contributing factor in the success of their wines.
Their winemaking team includes a second winemaker, Ido Lewinsohn, a graduate of the Viticulture and Enology Program at the University of Milan. Prior to his arrival to their winery, Lewinsohn has worked in different wineries in Australia, France and Italy, among them the prestigious “Sassicaia” in Tuscany.

Recanati wines are marketed in leading wine stores and restaurants. New export markets have been developed, and Recanati exports its quality wines to ever growing markets in the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan and Western Europe.

The winery looks back on its achievements in its initial years with great pride and sense of satisfaction, yet does not rest on its laurels and continues to cultivate new vineyards, invest in research in agricultural and enology and, most importantly, to produce wines with enormous love, while continually striving to enhance its products

You will find 4 different Varieties of wines under Recanati :

  • Yasmin : This series includes a red and a white wine, both young, blended wines that are the first to be marketed in each harvest year.
  • Recanati : The winery’s main label, consisting of oak aged, varietal wines produced with quality grapes. This is an excellent value-for-money product.
  • Reserve : Recanati’s Reserve label wines are produced from the finest grapes received by the winery, those conducive to producing excellent wines. The wines are aged in oak barrels for extended periods and are characterised by their intense and complex flavours. The enological philosophy behind these wines is the production of a wine that is neither “old world” nor “new world” – but rather “Middle Eastern”, that faithfully represents the growing region of the grapes
  • Special Reserve : Recanati Special Reserve is the winery’s Flagship wine. The making of this wine involves combining the best grapes at one’s disposal each year with the newest and best oak barrels, meticulous attention to the smallest detail and an enormous amount of love and patience. The result is a harmonious, rich and full-bodied wine with intense tannins and a balanced acidity that provides the wine with long-term ageing potential. Flavours and aromas of black plums And black cherries, along with the spicy nuances developed during 19 months barrel ageing in new French oak, followed by a tantalisingly long aftertaste define this wine.

The Vineyard

This wine is made from a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from our Kadita vineyard in the Upper Galilee and 16% of Merlot, harvested in our vineyard in Kibbutz Manara.
The two vineyards are planted at an average elevation of 800 meters above sea level. The cool climate that prevails in this region and the stony, well drained soil create ideal conditions for growing these noble grape varieties.

The Winemaking Process

Upon delivery to the winery the grapes are gently crushed, destemmed and transferred to tanks for three days of cold maceration prior to fermentation. This process greatly contributes to preserving the fruits’ flavours and ensures maximum colour extraction. After tank fermentation and pressing, the wine is transferred to new French oak barrels.
For the first four months the produce of the different vineyards is aged in separate barrels. This is followed by a series of tastings in order to determine the composition of the final blend.
When the blend is created, the wine is returned to the barrels to continue its 19 month ageing period, during which time the wine is further enhanced and refined
